“What art offers is space – a certain breathing room for the spirit.” – John Updike In this densely populated, challenging neighborhood, it is no wonder that we have quickly learned how our children and youth flourish when offered opportunities in the arts. Whether visual, dramatic, or musical arts, our young people are attracted like bees to honey.

Many of our arts offerings depend on the gifts and time of volunteers. So throughout the year, we may have a children’s or youth theater production arise – frequently more than once. Visual arts can be expressed in a singular project that stands alone, or as a part of other activities. Yet music has been our most durable tradition at the parish.   Longfellow once said that “Music is the Universal Language of Mankind. Offering musical opportunities to youth crosses boundaries of culture and nation, age and gender. At this point in our history, we are proud to offer four opportunities for development and performance in music.
